Finishing a macrame project made with synthetic thread.

If my macrame project is made by knotting synthetic thread and the last row is made with double half hitches, I know two different ways of sealing the knots.
Both methods are based on the same principle: HEAT MELTS SYNTHETIC THREAD.
In order to illustrate this post I have prepared a band of white waxed thread.

Method 1.-

I work with the flame of a lighter. (In this picture I have used the flame of my stove since I had no one to help me with the photography) (I used a flash to let you see the burning thread)

Method 2:
I heat a piece of metal ( in this case it is an old pair of scissors but it could be an old iron).

What is the difference?
Method 1 forms a thicker clump and often turns the thread brown or black, depending on the composition of the thread. Instead it is possible to work wherever you are.
Method 2.-provides a softer and cleaner finishing, but you cannot do it in an open space. .
